Course Description

Your First Money Adventure

Start your money journey right here! This class introduces the very first ideas about money — what it looks like, what it's for, and how we decide what's important to buy. Perfect for tamariki who are just beginning to explore the world of dollars and cents.

What you'll learn

  • Discover what money is and why we use it instead of swapping things directly
  • Recognise all five New Zealand coins — from the 10 cent piece to the $2 coin
  • Identify all five New Zealand notes — from the $5 to the $100
  • Understand the difference between a need (something we must have) and a want (something we'd like)
  • Make simple decisions about what to spend money on when you can't buy everything
